Hospice Nursing Assistant
Works under the supervision of the Registered Nurse. The Hospice Nursing Assistant's primary job function is to perform delegated nursing tasks assigned by the registered nurse, performing selected technical support activities and assisting the registered nurse and licensed practical nurse to perform specific nursing activities. Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Education:
• High School Diploma or successful completion of an equivalent High School Exam Required
• Ability to read, write and speak English required
• Completion of an approved nursing assistant program or equivalent experience required
Licensure:
• BLS within 90 days of hire required
Experience:
• Approximately six months prior experience in either the acute, long term care or community based care setting preferred.
Job Specific Duties and Performance Expectations:
The following is a summary of the major job duties of this job. Other duties may be performed, both major and minor, which are not mentioned below. Specific activities may change from time to time.
1. Performs basic patient care activities.
2. Observes patients and reports unusual conditions and/or reactions to the registered nurse.
3. Assists with admissions, discharges and transfers of patients.
4. Answers call lights and responds to patient needs.
5. Maintains patient environment and performs routine cleaning tasks in nursing unit/patient rooms.
6. Completes clinical record documentation per policy.
7. Participates in in-services, department meetings, and workshops to advance knowledge and skill.
8. Performs other duties as assigned.
