SCHEDULE:upto 29 hours weekly(seasonal as needed up to 40 hours)
FUNCTION:
Tosupport the ongoing mission of The Salvation Army bymaintainingstandards and facilitating sales and donations at the Portsmouth Corps Family Store
-Perform basic math functions to collect payments and make change
-Supervisefamilystore volunteers in absence of store manager
-Maintainaccuratesales and customer records according to policy
-Participate in operation of the cash register,maintenance and sales recording.
-Uphold pricing and store policy set bystoremanager.
-Participate in staff training as needed.
-Comply withall applicable laws and regulations for thrift store operation.
-Assist with intake, sorting, and pricing.
-Open and/or closestoreas scheduled.
-Memorize product locations throughout the store and be able to direct customers or make suggestions
-Collect payments and bag purchases for customers
-Maintainaccuratecashdrawer
-Take a tally of the funds in the cash register whenrequiredduring a shift and produce transaction reports
-Keep the checkout area clean and orderly
-Appropriately represent The Salvation Army’s spiritual ministry and social mission in every circumstance, treating customers and clients alike with dignity and respect.
-Perform all duties in compliance with Salvation Army policies and regulations.
-Perform other duties as needed and/or directed by the Officer in charge.
Qualifications- High School Diploma or GED
- Related experience preferred but not necessary
- Goodphone etiquette
- Excellent verbal communication skills
- Punctual
- Ability to work independently on assigned tasks as well as to acceptdirectionon given assignments.
- Able to multi-task
- Professional appearance
- Able to work collectively with the administrative team associates.
