About the Role
We are seeking a thoughtful, reliable After-School Equine Program Leader to facilitate small group programs for youth in a supportive, horse-centered learning environment. Our current after-school programs emphasize foundational horsemanship, confidence, literacy, and connection with safety, calmness, and respect for the horses at the center of the work.
This role is ideal for someone who is confident around horses, enjoys working with children, values animal welfare as much as human learning, and wants to become part of a growing organization with a mission to create community access to horses. This is a trial, part-time position (5-10 hrs/wk) with potential for growth and education for the right candidate.
About Us

Whether it’s a child building confidence by reading to a pony, a teen discovering new skills in horsemanship, or an adult finding peace and presence alongside a horse, our programs are designed to foster connection, growth, and wellbeing.

- Assist with grooming, tacking, and horse preparation as needed
- Observe and respond to horse behavior and participant needs in real time
- Communicate clearly with program staff regarding schedules, supplies, and horse needs
- Support barn rules, safety protocols, and program values at all times
Required Qualifications
- Availability to work weekday afternoons (3-5 pm)
- Strong experience with horses - understanding of horse behavior, safety, and welfare
- Experience working with children in a group setting
- Strong references related to equine and youth work
- Reliability to operate independently
Preferred / Bonus Qualifications
- Background in education, youth development, or equine training
- Certification or training with PATH International, HERD Institute, EAGALA, or other equine-facilitated / equine-assisted programs
- Interest in equine-facilitated learning, therapeutic horsemanship, or experiential education
- First Aid/CPR certification (if not current, will be required to complete prior to start)
For the right candidate, this position offers:
- Mentorship and continuing education in equine-facilitated programming
