Mechanical Engineer II

What You Will Do

• Perform mechanical design, development, and documentation of components, sub-assemblies, and major end items for defense system equipment in accordance with system requirements.
• Develop mechanical designs from initial concept to formal technical data package generation (engineering drawings, models) and culminating in initial builds, testing, transition to production, and production support.
• Collaborate across multiple disciplines/functions (e.g., structural/thermal analyses and electrical engineering) to solve complex technical challenges in a fast‑paced, team environment.
• Participate in design peer reviews, resolve action items, and conduct trade studies to make sound technical decisions.
• Occasional CONUS travel to customer sites or suppliers is generally required; international and longer duration travel assignments may be available but optional.

• Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 2 years of prior relevant experience.
• Experience in the selection of materials for structural, thermal, mechanical, electrical, producibility, and environmental considerations including corrosion mitigation and prevention.
• Experience with GD&T (ASME Y14.5), tolerance analysis, metal fabrication (machining, sheet metal), assembly joining techniques (fasteners, rivets, inserts).
• Experience with CAD modeling and engineering documentation practices.
• The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government‑issued security clearance is required.
• U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

• Preference for experience in the specification, design, development, production and testing of electronics systems.
• Specific knowledge of packaging electronic equipment to meet physical and environmental constraints.
• Experience with Military and Commercial Specifications.
• Experience with PTC CREO and PDM.
• Experience managing financial and schedule performance of program‑level tasking.
• Demonstrated ability to solve difficult problems while working as part of a cross‑functional team.
• Strong communication skillset with ability to articulate, in both oral and written form, to technical, non‑technical and management audiences.

• Competitive salary range: $68,900 - $131,100 USD.
