Systems Engineer, Cybersecurity
Network Engineer, Principal Specialist (P3) – Raytheon Digital Technology, Classified Infrastructure Services Network Engineering Team. Fully onsite in Portsmouth, RI (1847 W Main Rd, NIMITZ BLDG). Requires an active US DoD Secret clearance and U.S. citizenship.
Responsibilities- Maintain smooth operation of voice and data networks.
- Plan, evaluate, coordinate, and perform installation and/or reconfiguration of hardware and software for data and voice communication networks.
- Develop technical expertise in voice and data network hardware and software interconnections such as switches, routers, firewalls, authentication servers, encryptors, etc.
- Maintain network management software platforms.
- Propose and configure solutions to meet future communication requirements, optimizing cost savings and redundancy.
- Prepare or ensure appropriate network documentation exists, including operational instructions and technical diagrams.
- Provide regular monitoring and network analysis for short‑and long‑range planning of in‑house systems.
- Assist with third‑party maintenance coordination for network equipment and vendors.
- Design network architectures: select hardware and software packages, create hierarchical architecture, and apply geographical limitations.
- Work with program engineers to resolve networking problems in tactical environments.
- Mentor, train, and share knowledge to enhance technical team performance.
- Willingness to work outside normal business hours, including evenings and weekends.
- Typical:
University degree or equivalent experience and minimum 5 years of relevant experience, or advanced degree and minimum 3 years’ experience. - Experience configuring and troubleshooting Cisco routers, switches, firewalls, and intrusion detection systems, including software upgrades.
- Experience with current cabling and fiber standards.
- Active and transferable US DoD Secret security clearance required prior to start date.
- U.S. citizenship required.
- Willingness and availability to travel domestically.
- Experience with access control lists, security posture, and vendor best practices.
- Experience with Visio diagramming and design.
- Knowledge of configuring and troubleshooting encryption devices.
- Effective customer service skills, oral and written communication.
- Experience with IP telephony, NTP servers, Gem One, and Solar Winds platforms.
- Certifications:
Security+ within 6 months, CCNA highly desired within a year. - Ability to work under time constraints.
- Experience with classified computing, STIG compliance, and network refreshes.
- Salary Range: $86,800 – $165,200.
