Raytheon's System Safety / Human System Integration (HSI) Department ensures product safety by identifying hazards, assessing risks, and implementing solutions to protect people, hardware, and the environment. Leveraging rigorous engineering principles, the team integrates safety into every phase of the system lifecycle, enhancing reliability and safeguarding our warfighters.
We are currently seeking Senior System Safety Engineers. These are onsite roles and can be located in Woburn, Tewksbury, Marlborough, Andover or Portsmouth RI.
What You Will Do:- Develop and implement MIL-STD-882E compliant system safety programs and perform associated tasks, analyses, and planning
- Conduct hazard and design analyses to ensure compliance with system requirements, customer specifications, and military standards
- Collaborate with customer safety representatives to clarify system requirements and ensure proper allocation to software, hardware, and test personnel
- Coordinate with customer safety representatives and Safety Review Board authorities to gain safety approval
- Manage System Safety Working Groups with Raytheon and customer representatives
- Work across integrated product teams and engineering disciplines, including Systems Engineering, Software/Firmware, Electrical, and Hardware Engineering, to eliminate hazards or implement effective controls
- Collaborate across multiple disciplines to gain a comprehensive understanding of product architecture and design
- Support safety efforts from program startup through production, demilitarization, and disposal phases
- Brief safety considerations and program status during technical reviews and approval processes
- Prepare internal and customer-facing reports detailing system safety analyses and program status
- Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 5 years of prior relevant experience
- Experience with System Safety Engineering, Systems Engineering, Software or Firmware Engineering, Electrical Engineering or equivalent Safety Engineering
- Experience writing technical reports and presentations
- Active and transferrable DoD security clearance
- Experience developing and implementing MIL-STD-882E System Safety Program tasks and analyses, involving management (task series 100), analysis (task series 200), evaluation (task series 300), and verification (task series 400). This includes hardware and software safety related tasks
- Experience with DoD System Safety Programs e.g. MIL-STD-882 / DO-178
- Experience reviewing software code and requirements for safety considerations

The salary range for this role is 86,800 USD - 165,200 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, location, education/training, and key skills. Specific benefits are dependent upon the specific business unit as well as whether or not the position is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement.
