The Raytheon Hardware Engineering Organization leads the hardware design, development and production support of a wide breadth of air, land, sea, and space systems. Within the Hardware Engineering Organization, the Undersea & Electronics Systems (UES) Department leads the mechanical and electrical design, development, and integration of a diverse set of products, including but not limited to undersea sensors and analysis, naval platforms, shipboard/ground-based processing and power equipment, and launchers.

The UES department is looking for full-time Mechanical Engineering I, located in Portsmouth, RI.

• Perform mechanical design, development, and documentation of components, sub-assemblies, and major end items for defense system equipment in accordance with system requirements.
• Support the factory and suppliers with product integration
• Collaborate across multiple disciplines/functions to solve complex technical challenges in a fast-paced, team environment.
• Validate design fit and functionality by rapid prototyping and/or simulation
• Participate in design peer reviews, resolving action items, and conduct trade studies to make sound technical decisions.
• Occasional CONUS travel to customer sites or suppliers is generally required. International and longer duration travel assignments are available but optional

• Bachelor of Science in Mechanical or Ocean Engineering or related Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) major
• The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
• Experience with CAD modeling software

Experience may be obtained through on ‑ the ‑ job experience, research, coursework, or projects.

• Experience in the specification, design, development, production and testing of undersea systems and electronics packaging. Knowledge of design for long term submergence, sealing, and corrosion resistance.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Demonstrated ability to solve difficult problems while working as part of a team.
• Experience on DoD programs.
• Experience with PTC CREO and PDM.
• Experience with ANSI/ASME Y14.5 GD&T experience.

The salary range for this role is 57,200 USD - 108,800 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
