Role Overview
Systems Engineer – Ocean Engineering
• Portsmouth, RI
• Onsite. Join RTX’s Raytheon Systems Engineering and Test Capabilities (SE & TC) Surface Radars & Sensors Center. The team supports naval undersea and surface domain programs including sensor systems, mine countermeasures, submarines, torpedoes, combat systems, and ship architecture/integration.
- Support planning and execution of integration, verification or test activities.
- Conduct requirement analysis to ensure system designs meet program objectives and customer needs.
- Develop and execute Monte Carlo test runs to assess system performance under varied conditions.
- Detect and diagnose system failures, identify root causes, and propose corrective actions.
- Support software/hardware integration efforts, collaborating with software teams to ensure seamless functionality.
- Work across disciplines to develop and implement innovative solutions to complex challenges.
- Stay up to date with advancements in data analysis techniques, and in integration, verification, or test practices.
- After comprehensive on‑the‑job training, you will support Systems Engineering and Test Capabilities activities across the product development lifecycle.
- Master’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) field.
- 12 months or less of relevant professional work experience (excluding internships).
- Experience with system software, system hardware, system requirements and/or test.
- Experience with C++, Python, MATLAB, or other programming languages.
- Experience using Monte Carlo simulations to model system performance, analyze outcomes, and enhance testing strategies.
- Experience identifying root causes of system failures through detailed diagnostics, implementing timely fixes to restore functionality, and developing preventative measures.
- Experience developing and managing requirements using DOORS, Rhapsody, Cameo, or other digital engineering tools, including model‑based and digital engineering practices.
- Experience working in an integration lab, test facility, or field environment supporting integration and/or verification.
- Experience presenting technical findings, analyses, and solutions to leadership and customers.
U.S. citizenship is required. A DoD Secret security clearance (or ability to obtain an interim clearance) must be obtained before the start date.
CompensationSalary range: $68,900 – $131,100 per year.
