Mechanical Engineer ; Onsite

Position: Mechanical Engineering I – Undersea & Electronics Systems (UES) Department

Location: Portsmouth, RI (US-RI-PORTSMOUTH-PS3 ~ 1847 W Main Rd ~ NIMITZ WEST BLDG)

Job Type: Onsite (U.S. Citizen required for security clearance)

• Perform mechanical design, development, and documentation of components, sub‑assemblies, and major end items for defense system equipment in accordance with system requirements.
• Support the factory and suppliers with product integration.
• Collaborate across multiple disciplines/functions to solve complex technical challenges in a fast‑paced, team environment.
• Validate design fit and functionality by rapid prototyping and/or simulation.
• Participate in design peer reviews, resolve action items, and conduct trade studies to make sound technical decisions.
• Occasional CONUS travel to customer sites or suppliers; international and longer duration travel optional.

• Bachelor of Science in Mechanical, Ocean Engineering, or related STEM field.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government‑issued security clearance (DoD Secret Clearance).
• Experience with CAD modeling software.
• Experience may be obtained through on‑the‑job experience, research, coursework, or projects.

• Experience in the specification, design, development, production and testing of undersea systems and electronics packaging.
• Knowledge of design for long‑term submergence, sealing, and corrosion resistance.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Demonstrated ability to solve difficult problems within a team.
• Experience on DoD programs.
• Experience with PTC CREO and PDM.
• Experience with ANSI/ASME Y14.5 GD&T.

• Salary range: $57,200 – $108,800 USD.
