Sr Industrial Engineer

Raytheon is seeking a Sr Industrial Engineer to support the Sensors portfolio of factories in Portsmouth, Rhode Island to maximize throughput, improve efficiency, and deliver increasing value to the customer. What You Will Do

  • Industrial Engineers apply advanced problem-solving techniques and Lean Manufacturing principles to develop and optimize our factory throughput, efficiency, and value.
  • Industrial Engineers are responsible for:
    • Capacity Planning
    • Manpower Planning
    • Factory Layout
    • Line Balancing
    • Simulation and Process Modeling
    • Labor Performance Analysis
    • Process and Value Stream Mapping
    • Project Management.

What You Will Learn

  • Analyze manufacturing system performance to identify undesirable effects and opportunities for improvement.
  • Calculate resource utilization and identify throughput constraints.
  • Apply Six Sigma and Lean Manufacturing principles to eliminate constraints, improve efficiency, and meet or exceed cost, quality, and on-time delivery goals.
  • Create process flows, value stream maps, pareto charts, spaghetti diagrams, and CAD drawings to graphically show manufacturing processes, the movement of material, the exchange of information, and key metrics.
  • Develop strategic plan for factory space, manpower, equipment and automation.
  • Contribute to strategic roadmaps focused on factory expansion, manufacturing technology insertion, infrastructure improvements, obsolescence mitigation, and the integration of new capabilities.
  • Partner with other functions to manage projects that modify the factory footprint, change the layout of factory equipment, and/or add new capability.
  • Lead analyses to support competitive bids, factory proposals, business case development for future investments, and Make/Buy/Where analyses.
  • Participate in factory safety and ergonomic improvements.

Qualifications You Must Have

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 5 years of prior relevant experience unless prohibited by local laws/regulations. or related field and typically 3 years of relevant experience
  • Experience with capacity/constraint analysis
  • Experience with CAD software to develop factory layouts (ie. AutoCAD)
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing best practices

Qualifications We Prefer

  • Experience with discrete event simulation modeling
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Strong analytical and creative thinking skills
  • Strong time management skills, ability to multi-task and adaptable to changing priorities
  • Self-starter, who can prioritize to meet various deadlines
