Sr Industrial Engineer
Raytheon is seeking a Sr Industrial Engineer to support the Sensors portfolio of factories in Portsmouth, Rhode Island to maximize throughput, improve efficiency, and deliver increasing value to the customer. What You Will Do
- Industrial Engineers apply advanced problem-solving techniques and Lean Manufacturing principles to develop and optimize our factory throughput, efficiency, and value.
- Industrial Engineers are responsible for:
- Capacity Planning
- Manpower Planning
- Factory Layout
- Line Balancing
- Simulation and Process Modeling
- Labor Performance Analysis
- Process and Value Stream Mapping
- Project Management.
What You Will Learn
- Analyze manufacturing system performance to identify undesirable effects and opportunities for improvement.
- Calculate resource utilization and identify throughput constraints.
- Apply Six Sigma and Lean Manufacturing principles to eliminate constraints, improve efficiency, and meet or exceed cost, quality, and on-time delivery goals.
- Create process flows, value stream maps, pareto charts, spaghetti diagrams, and CAD drawings to graphically show manufacturing processes, the movement of material, the exchange of information, and key metrics.
- Develop strategic plan for factory space, manpower, equipment and automation.
- Contribute to strategic roadmaps focused on factory expansion, manufacturing technology insertion, infrastructure improvements, obsolescence mitigation, and the integration of new capabilities.
- Partner with other functions to manage projects that modify the factory footprint, change the layout of factory equipment, and/or add new capability.
- Lead analyses to support competitive bids, factory proposals, business case development for future investments, and Make/Buy/Where analyses.
- Participate in factory safety and ergonomic improvements.
Qualifications You Must Have
- Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 5 years of prior relevant experience unless prohibited by local laws/regulations. or related field and typically 3 years of relevant experience
- Experience with capacity/constraint analysis
- Experience with CAD software to develop factory layouts (ie. AutoCAD)
- Knowledge of lean manufacturing best practices
Qualifications We Prefer
- Experience with discrete event simulation modeling
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Strong analytical and creative thinking skills
- Strong time management skills, ability to multi-task and adaptable to changing priorities
- Self-starter, who can prioritize to meet various deadlines
