Raytheon (RTX) is seeking a Sr Industrial Engineer to support the Sensors portfolio of factories in Portsmouth, Rhode Island. The role focuses on maximizing throughput, improving efficiency, and delivering value to the customer.

The role requires a U.S. citizen who can obtain and maintain a DoD Secret security clearance. Security clearance is required after day 1.

- Project Management
- Analyze manufacturing system performance to identify undesirable effects and opportunities for improvement.
- Calculate resource utilization and identify throughput constraints.
- Apply Six Sigma and Lean Manufacturing principles to eliminate constraints, improve efficiency, and meet or exceed cost, quality, and on-time delivery goals.
- Create process flows, value stream maps, pareto charts, spaghetti diagrams, and CAD drawings to graphically show manufacturing processes.
- Develop strategic plan for factory space, manpower, equipment, and automation.
- Contribute to strategic roadmaps focused on factory expansion, manufacturing technology insertion, infrastructure improvements, obsolescence mitigation, and integration of new capabilities.
- Partner with other functions to manage projects that modify the factory footprint, change the layout of factory equipment, and/or add new capability.
- Lead analyses to support competitive bids, factory proposals, business case development for future investments, and Make/Buy/Where analyses.
- Participate in factory safety and ergonomic improvements.
- Typically requires a STEM degree and a minimum of 5 years of prior relevant experience, or a Master’s in a related field and 3 years of relevant experience.
- Experience with capacity/constraint analysis.
- Experience with CAD software to develop factory layouts (e.g., AutoCAD).
- Knowledge of Lean manufacturing best practices.
- Experience with discrete event simulation modeling is preferred.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Strong analytical and creative thinking skills.
- Strong time management skills, ability to multi-task and adapt to changing priorities.
- Self-starter who can prioritize to meet various deadlines.
Salary range: $86,800 - $165,200 USD (based on experience). This position is NOT eligible for relocation.
