Raytheon's Hardware Mechanical Engineering team leads the mechanical hardware design, development and production of critical defense systems. The HWE Team uses state-of-the-art tools, processes, technology, and Raytheon's CORE principles. HWE's capabilities encompass a broad range of technical disciplines which include engineering, prototyping, technical services, materials, processes, analysis, test, and documentation.

Within the Hardware Mechanical Engineering team, the Undersea & Electronics Systems (UES) Department leads the mechanical design, development, and integration of products, including but not limited to undersea sensors and analysis, naval platforms, shipboard/ground-based processing and power equipment, and launchers.

The ideal candidate for Senior Mechanical Design Engineer will bring a blend of technical ability, experience in mechanical hardware design, system integration skills, and a strong background in program execution whether design and development or production support. As a key contributor on a mechanical or cross-functional engineering team, you will take responsibility for component and assembly modeling, documentation, design changes, and releases processes.

This position is ideal for a mid-career mechanical engineer who is looking to grow their skills in design, support to production, and technical problem-solving within a highly collaborative and mission-focused environment.

• Develop innovative technical solutions to a wide range of complex challenges spanning the entire product lifecycle, including proposal, advanced development, design, cooling, manufacturing, integration, and testing of components and systems for military programs.
• Perform tolerance analyses to ensure form, fit, and function are as intended by design for the use-application.
• Lead small teams utilizing strong mechanical hardware design experience and knowledge in a fast-paced collaborative environment with ruggedized structures, interconnects, cooling, electronics packaging, tooling and/or array integration.
• Provide support for product integration and efforts in both domestic and international factories and supplier locations to assess requirements compliance.

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including other engineering disciplines, operations, supply chain, quality, and external suppliers to resolve technical challenges and develop effective design solutions.
• Independently manage tasks and deliver on schedule, budget, and technical goals.
• Participate in design reviews and conduct trade studies to support informed, sound engineering decisions.
• Mentor and guide less experienced engineers, contributing to team development and technical growth.

• Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 5 years of prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years' experience.
