Onsite. This U.S. based role requires U.S. citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret security clearance. The security clearance status is active and must be existing after day 1.

Raytheon is seeking a Principal Industrial Engineer to support the Sensors portfolio of factories in Portsmouth, Rhode Island. In this senior-level role, you will lead factory optimization efforts, drive strategic planning, and partner directly with cross-functional teams to maximize throughput, improve efficiency, and deliver increasing value to the customer. What You Will Do

Industrial Engineers apply advanced problem-solving techniques and Lean Manufacturing principles to develop and optimize our factory throughput, efficiency, and value. Analyze manufacturing system performance to identify constraints, inefficiencies, and opportunities for improvement. Apply Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma principles to calculate capacity, eliminate constraints, and improve cost, quality, and schedule performance. Create factory models using process flows, value stream maps, pareto charts, spaghetti diagrams, and CAD drawings to graphically show manufacturing processes, the movement of material, the exchange of information, and key metrics.

Support strategic roadmaps related to factory capacity, capability growth, infrastructure improvements, obsolescence mitigation, and integration of new manufacturing technologies. Partner with other functions to manage projects that modify the factory footprint, change the layout of factory equipment, and/or add new capability. Lead analyses to support competitive bids, factory proposals, business case development, supplier capability assessments, and Make/Buy/Where analyses. Mentor and influence teams to drive data-driven decision-making and continuous improvement across value streams.

Industrial Engineering tools and methods used to build factory models to advance continuous improvement and future-state forecasting. Executive Presence and how to support leadership in making data driven decisions that result in measurable improvements.

Project planning and project management techniques to deliver results and meet critical milestones supporting key business objectives. How to influence and lead others working with high-performing cross functional teams and frontline operators and specialists who assemble, test, and deliver our products everyday. Strategic planning and how to develop business proposals that generate returns on invested capital within the factories. Raytheon’s Leadership Values and Behaviors and how to apply them as a senior technical leader.

Qualifications
  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 8 years of prior relevant experience unless prohibited by local laws/regulations.
  • Or applicable MS degree with 6 years of applicable experience.
  • Industrial Engineering degree.
  • Experience with capacity/constraint analysis.
  • Experience with CAD software for factory layouts (e.g., AutoCAD).
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing best practices.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in factory layout and work cell design/optimization.
  • Experience with discrete event simulation modeling.
