Senior Manufacturing Engineer

Job Summary

Senior Manufacturing Engineer – Portsmouth, RI. Provide Operations Engineering support to the Manufacturing Work Centers, focusing on process improvement, cycle time reduction, defect prevention, and operator support.

• Develop, maintain, and review Manufacturing Data Packages (MDPs) including assembly instructions, workflow/routing, labor standards, and tool/fixture designs.
• Support a manufacturing area as part of a cross‑functional team by guiding the production team through process troubleshooting and incorporating engineering changes into the MDP.
• Disposition non‑conforming material and support initiatives to identify root cause and implement corrective actions.
• Drive continuous improvement through process improvements to improve cycle time, reduce ergonomic risk, automate, and reduce costs using CORE principles and data‑driven decision making.
• Engage in design development and/or transition to production at various product phases as the Manufacturing Engineering contributor.
• Provide real‑time technical support to manufacturers and fabricators, both in‑house and the supply base.
• Use manufacturing systems and software, including Microsoft and SAP based applications, to maintain production‑relevant information and perform basic data analysis to identify trends within quality data.
• Participate in process improvement initiatives, establish process baseline metrics, conduct defect prevention, and perform process data analysis.

• Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience.
• Experience working in a manufacturing environment.
• Preferred:
  Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, DFMA principles and methods; MRL and TRL assessments; safety/ergonomic assessments.
• Experience with technical drawing interpretation, Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T), configuration management practices, and industry standards (e.g., J‑STD‑001).
• Proficiency with CAD solid modeling tools (preference for CREO/ProE) and/or simulation tools.
• Experience in transducer and sensor assembly, cable and harness fabrication, and specialized tooling development.
• Experience with automated tooling and machinery programming, including CMM, CNC, robotics, and related equipment.
• Active DoD security clearance – Secret or higher; U.S. citizenship required.
