Purpose

Our Electrical Installation Engineers are essential to delivering our mission and strategic objectives. Working within the Projects Team, you will install, commission, and test generator systems as well as associated electrical infrastructure on critical power equipment at customer sites. Installing Diesel Generators & UPS Systems along with associated automated control switch gear in various critical industries, like Utilities, Healthcare, and law enforcement.

We understand that P&I reside in a niche section of these industries, so for the right candidate who is willing and able to learn, product and system specific training as well as time to familiarise yourself with the nuances of the critical power industry, will form a large part of the probation period.

Role responsibilities
  • Interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and installation documentation to execute installations with technical accuracy.
  • Work with project managers, clients, and design engineers to ensure compliant and integrated project delivery.
  • Install, terminate and commission electrical systems for critical‑power equipment, including cable routing, containment works, termination and panel wiring, in compliance with electrical and mechanical regulations, manufacturer requirements and industry standards.
  • Produce accurate installation reports, commissioning records, test results, and compliance documentation.
  • Diagnose and resolve electrical and control‑system faults during installation, commissioning, and operational phases.
  • Uphold statutory safety, operational efficiency, and quality assurance across all technical activities.
  • Deliver basic technical operation training to customers, engineers, and colleagues.
  • Mentor apprentices and junior engineers, providing technical guidance and supervised practical support.
  • Maintain tools, test equipment, and vehicles according to company maintenance standards.
  • Support the Projects, Design, Service and Sales Teams with advanced technical input on electrical system integration and design validation.
  • Work flexibly outside standard hours to meet operational requirements and perform additional technical duties as required to meet business needs.
Essential Qualifications & Experience

Applicants must have the following:

  • NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installation or equivalent (Preferably through an Apprenticeship).
  • BS7671 – 18th Edition Wiring Regulations.
  • ECS Gold Card (or actively working towards obtaining one).
  • Electrical installation experience within a commercial, industrial or power‑generation environment. Inspection & Testing qualification (e.g. City & Guilds 2391).
  • Full UK driving licence (Ideally clean).
Applicants who have any of the following would be at a significant advantage
  • Qualified Supervisor (QS), ensuring NICEIC compliance under the direction of the Electrical Supervisor (PDH).
  • Supervising work carried out by competent electrical engineers.
  • Experience of site surveys, statutory inspections, fault diagnostics, system repairs, operator training, and validation testing on electrical installations.

£47,500 - £52,500 DOE with OTE of £68k Plus.
