Job Description About the Role
Southern Housing is looking for a skilled Electrician to join our Direct Services team, delivering a high‑quality, ‑focused repairs and maintenance service. You’ll play a key role in reactive repairs, inspections, and compliance work across occupied and void properties, helping ensure our have safe, well‑maintained homes.
You’ll work as part of a dedicated team but will be trusted to manage your own workload efficiently, always aiming for a first‑time fix and excellent customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities- Carry out electrical repairs, maintenance, inspections, testing and surveys in line with regulations and safety standards
- Complete work orders and reports accurately using mobile systems
- Deliver works within agreed response times and quality standards
- Diagnose and rectify faults efficiently, minimising repeat visits
- Support emergency call‑out services via a fair rota system
- Liaise professionally with, including those who may be vulnerable
- Support team colleagues, including mentoring when required
- Ensure tools, stock, and company vehicles are maintained safely and responsibly
- Promote health & safety, compliance, equality, and Southern Housing’s HEART values
- Proven experience in electrical maintenance or installation within housing or a similar environment
- Recognised electrical qualifications: NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installation (or equivalent) with AM2 / AM2E, 18th Edition Wiring Regulations, Inspection & Testing qualification (e.g. 2391 or 2395)
- Strong working knowledge of building regulations, NICEIC standards and health & safety legislation
- Ability to work independently and manage workloads effectively
- Excellent communication and customer‑focused approach
- Willingness to participate in out‑of‑hours and emergency rotas
- Full UK driving licence
