Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM

The City of Portsmouth Public Works is seeking a professional and customer-focused Customer Service Representative to join our team. This role is responsible for providing high-quality service to residents and visitors by addressing inquiries, resolving concerns, and supporting departmental operations.

• Respond to customer inquiries via phone, email, and in person in a timely and professional manner
• Provide accurate information regarding city services, programs, and procedures
• Assist residents with requests, forms, and service-related issues
• Document customer interactions and maintain records in internal systems
• Resolve complaints or elevate issues to the appropriate department when necessary
• Maintain a positive and helpful attitude while delivering excellent customer service

• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Previous customer service or administrative experience preferred
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Basic computer proficiency (Microsoft Office, data entry systems)
• Ability to multitask and manage time effectively
• Professional demeanor and problem‑solving skills
