Duties
* You will apply technical knowledge, practical experience and familiarity with a broad range of requirements related to the radiological control to the modification, repair, and maintenance of Naval nuclear reactor plants.
* You will evaluate and advise on technical concepts that involve exposure to ionizing radiation and provide recommendations of techniques for new radiological procedures.
* You will manage student records to include electronic grade sheets, qualification records, and database maintenance and updates.
* You will conduct surveillance to monitor effectiveness of training and adherence to standards.
* You will generate, administer, and evaluate written, practical and/or oral examinations and advise on the qualification or disqualification of radiological control technicians. Requirements Conditions of employment

* This is a bargaining unit position.
* You will be required to maintain qualification to at least the level of radiological controls being instructed within 1 year.
* You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
* You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
* You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
* Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
* This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
* You will be required to work overtime, rotating shifts, weekends/holidays and odd shifts.
* You will be required to climb ladders and scaffolding.
* You will be required to lift/carry up to 50lbs. Qualifications Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
* Experience utilizing knowledge of the concepts, principles, theories, techniques and practices of naval nuclear reactors, reactor systems, health physics, and applied radiological controls such as, concepts that involve mathematics, health physics, the interaction of ionizing radiation with living tissue and non-viable material substances, and knowledge of techniques used in detecting and measuring ionizing radiation and radioactivity;
* Experience in technical procedures and work practices employed in nuclear work to adjust training methods and materials to be in consonance with actual work operations;
* Experience evaluating radiation exposure data, dose assessment and risk evaluation, and radiation protection standards, concepts and regulations sufficient to allow the incumbent to assess radiological impact on personnel and recommend required corrective actions;
* Experience with relative seriousness of various radiological casualty situations and immediate and follow-up corrective actions which should be taken;
* Experience with trade processes, procedures, tools, and guides required in the disassembly and assembly of high-pressure water, steam, or hydraulic piping systems and associated mechanical control parts associated with naval nuclear propulsion plants;
* Experience with nomenclature, location and purpose of systems and components of Naval nuclear propulsion plants and associated nuclear systems;
* Experience utilizing theoretical and practical aspects of the technical work of nuclear engineering and health physics gained through additional education, training, and/or experience;
