Engineering Technician; Nuclear Security Clearance

Position: ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN (NUCLEAR) with Security Clearance
Duties
* You will analyze engineering specifications, drawings, and work plans, establishing detailed production repair for the reactor plant area on an assigned shift.
* You will plan material, manpower, and special equipment requirements for conversion and/or repair of nuclear submarine reactor plant.
* You will observe work in progress to ensure that safe radiological practices are followed, correcting immediately all radiological deficiencies.
* You will ensure proper manning levels to accomplish scheduled work and as necessary reschedule manpower requirements.
* You will review technical work documents for workability on the waterfront.
* You will provide technical assistance to projects and resource shops as necessary to ensure quality and timeliness of completed work. Requirements Conditions of employment

* You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
* You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
* You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
* Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
* This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time. Qualifications GS-12 Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of Specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.

Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
* Experience applying the latest developments in nuclear engineering to solve problems that are not readily treatable by accepted methods.
* Experience applying knowledge of related engineering fields such as mechanical and electrical and knowledge of naval nuclear radiological control requirements for shipyards.
* Experience understanding Production, Nuclear Engineering and Radiological Control Office requirements and responsibilities.
* Experience serving as the Production Resource Department's technical authority on shipyard nuclear production radiological controls and also quality and production techniques, associated with the repair, overhaul, refueling, decontamination, and operation of naval nuclear reactor plants. GS-11 Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of Specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-10 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.

Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
* Experience applying knowledge of the radiological and quality controls as applicable to reactor plant and nuclear work facility systems.
* Experience preparing technical work document and conducting inspections.
* Experience applying concepts, principles, and practices of nuclear engineering.
