Senior Technical Authority For Advanced Rapid Prototyping And Manufacturing

Duties

  • You will serve as the senior technical authority for advanced rapid prototyping and manufacturing.
  • You will develop complex Computer-Aided Design models and Technical Documentation Packages for manufacturing.
  • You will analyze engineering drawings and legacy components to determine optimal manufacturing strategies, using 23 scanning and reverse engineering to recreate obsolete parts.
  • You will develop long-range strategic roadmaps for technology insertion and facility modification.
  • You will communicate with vendors and industry leaders to evaluate emerging technologies and customize equipment to meet NAVSEA standards.
  • You will determine and prepare optimal materials for high-stress components.
  • You will research and test novel materials, advising management on integrating new material capabilities to expand repair methodologies.
  • You will author and implement standard operating procedures and safety protocols for emerging manufacturing processes.
  • You will direct and train personnel on the capabilities and safety protocols of advanced manufacturing equipment.

  • This is a bargaining unit position.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • You will be required to climb ladders and scaffolding.
  • Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
  • You will be required to lift /carry up to 40lbs in weight.

Qualifications Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:

  • Experience exhibiting comprehensive knowledge of CAD modeling practices and programs, including but not limited to Solid Edge, Solidworks, AutoCAD, Inventor, etc. with the ability to design complex components made from metals, plastics, composites, or resins using various manufacturing processes and equipment.
  • Experience utilizing CAD/CAM software (e.g. Mastercam, Fusion 360, etc.).
  • Experience with slicing software (e.g. Cura, Simplify3D) and experience with post processing techniques for 3D printed parts.
  • Experience performing with 3D scanning hardware and software.
  • Experience interpreting engineering drawings and visualizing objects in three dimensions, including the ability to reverse engineering items from 3D scans.
  • Experience applying knowledge of material properties, behaviors, applications, and limitations of plastics, metals, composites, resins, etc.
  • Experience implementing the application and interpretation of geometric dimensioning and tolerance (GD&T) as it relates to engineering and shop tooling drawings.
  • Experience employing emerging innovations in additive and subtractive manufacturing to advise management on the targeted procurement of new technologies and equipment.
  • Experience presenting in oral and written communication to provide technical expertise to management officials.
  • Experience planning, organizing, and establishing priorities independently on assignments of substantial variety and complexity.
