Summary
You will serve as a Engineering Technician (Nuclear) in the Nuclear Engineering Training Branch (2301.3) under the Assistant Nuclear Engineering and Planning Manager (2301), Nuclear Engineering and Planning Department (2300) of NORFOLK NAVAL SHIPYARD.

- You will independently plan, organize and accomplish complex engineering technical projects in support of an effective nuclear engineer training program.
- You will serve as a consultant to shipyard management and other organizations inside and outside of the shipyard.
- You will develop, arrange and moderate seminars and conferences including conducting formal and informal classroom training and lectures on broad to detailed subject matter areas within the specialization.
- You will be responsible for adhering to the concepts, work practices, policies, and philosophy of naval nuclear work.

- You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
- You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
- You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
- Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
- You will be required to climb ladders and scaffolding.
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
- Experience crafting and delivering training to the nuclear engineering community based on NAVSEA and private industry best practices.
- Experience planning, revising, modifying, and/or organizing technical training and training curriculums, such as nuclear theory, radiological controls, security, and safety.
- Experience applying operational knowledge of the Naval Nuclear Propulsion Program.
- Experience with in nuclear training programs and coordinating their interfaces with other shipyard departments or divisions.
- Experience conducting studies, surveys, drills and internal audits to evaluate findings and optimize training program objectives.
