Job Summary:

The Director of Hotel Operations will be responsible for all strategic and operational aspects of the property's hotel. This position will support the company's business objectives to maximize hotel revenue through both strategic room yielding and through flawless operations and superior customer service.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Lead, direct and manage all hotel operations including, but not limited to Front Desk, Housekeeping, and Valet.
  • Responsible for hotel budgeting and forecasting, strategic planning, leading service initiatives, implementing and complying with all company policies and standards and responding to guest inquiries and resolving concerns
  • Actively partner with the Director of Sales, Director of Finance and Marketing department to maximize hotel occupancy and rooms revenue
  • Ensure guest and team member satisfaction
  • Monitor and develop team member performance, to include, but not limited to, providing supervision and professional development, scheduling, conducting counseling and evaluations and delivering recognition and rewards
  • Recruit, interview and train team members
  • Oversee service quality, operational efficiency, guest satisfaction, standards compliance and service and financial measurements
  • Identify operational performance, productivity and efficiency gaps and implement measures to correct those deficiencies
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory controls both internal and external including but not limited to state and federal labor laws and any relevant Virginia Lottery regulations and guidelines
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Minimum

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • A college degree or other relevant work and/or educational equivalent required
  • A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience as a hotel operations leader or hospitality leader required
  • Experience as a leader in a hotel greenfield start-up is preferred

  • Proficient in hotel and revenue management systems
  • Outstanding organization skills are a must, as is the ability to actively manage and prioritize multiple projects simultaneously. Must thrive in a fast-paced, fluid environment

Physical Requirements:

  • Work is performed both in an office and in the hotel.
  • Ability to stoop, kneel, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25lbs.
  • Ability to work flexible schedules, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Ability to work in an environment with moderate to loud noise, bright lights, smoke, and dust.
