Overview

The HR Manager is part of the casino's on-site senior leadership team, collaborating with leaders in finance and operations to drive strategy and engagement. For us, leaders are recognized as – flexible, thoughtful, socially responsible, and always planning for the future.

Responsibilities
  • Supervisory Responsibilities:

    manage up to five HR professionals in various stages of their careers, including performance management and development.
  • Set the vision, direction, and culture of the HR team by managing individual and team performance expectations, monitoring service levels and schedule adherence, and holding the team accountable to meet and exceed targets.
  • Collaborate with operations and finance to coordinate with the centralized staffing team for non-exempt hiring and to hire exempt professionals and managers within the business area.
  • Develop strategic relationships with business partners, influence decisions, root cause issues quickly using data, and communicate how HR actions affect business outcomes.
  • Maintain a hands-on approach to monitor the pulse of employees and ensure a high level of engagement.
  • Understand business goals and recommend policies and procedures to improve objectives, productivity, and HR development.
  • Collaborate with leadership teams to harmonize casino-specific priorities with Rivers Casino goals (e.g., diversity & inclusion, engagement, and talent management).
  • Deliver results in a fast-paced, high-volume environment supporting HR functions and operations leadership.
  • Drive and direct employee engagement efforts for senior leaders, front-line managers, and team members.
  • Continuously innovate HR solutions and drive process improvements.
  • Lead projects, obtain buy-in from stakeholders, and drive execution with effective project management.
Education and Experience Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business management, or a related field from an accredited university/college
  • Seven (7) or more years of experience in HR or equivalent work experience
  • Strong understanding of federal and local labor laws
  • Strategic thinker and creative problem solver who takes initiative and ownership
  • Experience in a matrixed HR department with collaboration and teaming skills
  • Self-starter with a creative mindset and a track record of turning ideas into action and measuring results
  • Experience supporting hourly and salary front-line employee populations of 1,500+
  • Demonstrated success with stretch assignments in start-ups, deadlines, and rapid growth environments
  • Experience in workforce planning/flex staffing
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and drive results
Certifications, Licenses, and/or Registrations
  • Gaming license/registration as required by jurisdiction(s)
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and project management skills with attention to quality and detail
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with all levels of the organization
  • Strong business acumen and understanding of the industry drivers
  • Ability to establish credibility and rapport with operating leaders
  • Ability to analyze data, identify trends, and develop actionable recommendations
Physical Requirements
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds occasionally
  • Ability to work flexible shifts and days of the week, including holidays
