Info Technology Specialist

This position has been designated an essential position. The employee filling this position may be required to report to work or otherwise fulfill the responsibilities of the position in the event of a college/campus closure due to weather or other emergent condition(s).

• The part-time IRT is accountable for maintaining the security and confidentiality of any proprietary or sensitive information or data in any medium regarding the college or its students, faculty, or staff.
• Assists in ensuring desktop standardization, and performance.
• Utilizes diagnostic and data recovery software to install, set up, and configure common application software packages and operating systems (i.e., Microsoft Windows 10/11 and Apple).
• Assists in performing setup and maintenance of network interface systems (i.e., Ethernet, Fast Ethernet, etc.).
• Tests wiring, IP telephone equipment and peripherals for switched and non‑switched services (voice, data, and video).
• Duties include, but are not limited to, interpretation of written requests; coordination of work with customers; installation or repair of requested services; documentation; interaction/communications with Telecom, Network, and Support Specialists regarding such services, providing first‑level customer support, and completion of appropriate paperwork.

• Knowledge of personal computers, operating systems, peripheral devices, and desktop applications, including Apple OS, Windows 10/11, and Microsoft Office 2013/2016.
• Basic knowledge of local area networks, including Telecommunications Protocol/Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) and its application in a large WAN/LAN environment.
• Basic knowledge of Anti‑Virus and Network Security Scanning Software.
• Ability to install, troubleshoot, and repair desktop computers, operating systems, and peripherals, with strong verbal and written communication skills sufficient to interact with a variety of end users and other technical staff.
• Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with those contacted in the course of a work assignment and to participate as a member of a cross‑departmental project team.
• Ability to work under pressure, meet inflexible deadlines, deal with difficult situations while maintaining composure, and handle multiple tasks simultaneously while meeting day‑to‑day needs.
• Ability to work independently or as a member of a team without direct supervision.
• Basic knowledge of the concepts of Voice Over IP for Ethernet networks.
