Position: SUPERVISORY IT SPECIALIST (PLCYPLN/INFOSEC)

Summary

You will serve as a SUPERVISORY IT SPECIALIST (PLCYPLN/INFOSEC) in the Windows/Internet Information Services (IIS)/Web Applications Support Branch (10914), IT Infrastructure and Operations Division (1091), in Information Technology and Cybersecurity (ITACS) Office (109) of NORFOLK NAVAL SHIPYARD.
Duties

  • You will provide first level supervision and management/oversight of work accomplished to a subordinate staff composed of civilian and contractor personnel.
  • You will manage and oversee the maintenance of the hardware and software installed on the various networks at Norfolk Naval Shipyard (NNSY) or operates as a standalone.
  • You will manage and oversee the support and assistance provided to network users and other administrators for various problems.
  • You will manage the configuration and installation of new equipment for use in the various systems in operation on the networks or standalone.
  • You will manage the network monitoring tools used to monitor status of servers and equipment, the research and resolution of hardware and software issues, print share management, access to various shared areas and zones, and Active Director

  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • Supervisors in the executive branch have a heightened personal responsibility for advancing government ethics. You will be required to review the 14 General Principles of Ethical Conduct at 5 CFR .
Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equal to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:

  • Experience supervising and managing a team of information technology (IT) professionals, including civilian and contractor personnel, to ensure effective management of IT resources or similar.
  • Experience planning, assigning, and evaluating work of subordinate employees.
  • Experience overseeing capital planning and investment controls, and preparation of IT budgets for their functional area of responsibility.
  • Experience with coordination and supervision of installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and fine-tuning for the network including all hardware, software, telecommunicatons, and networking components.
