Responsibilities
Harbor Point Behavioral Health Center provides intensive residential treatment to youth aged 7‑17 with psychiatric diagnoses or developmental disabilities in Portsmouth, VA.

Must possess demonstrated leadership ability, ability to communicate effectively with diverse groups and individuals, strong oral and written communication skills. Must have knowledge of general and child/adolescent psychiatric nursing, therapeutic relationships, growth and development, limit‑setting and behavior management, crisis management with aggressive behaviors. Individual must be able to perform each essential function of the job satisfactorily. Good verbal and written skills, ability to rotate shifts and programs as necessary, maintain confidentiality of resident information, demonstrate knowledge of risk factors for violence and ability to assess suicidal/homicidal ideations. On‑call requirements required.
Graduation from an approved School of Nursing, which confers RN, AD, or diploma in Nursing.
Licensure / CertificationLicensed by Commonwealth of Virginia as a Registered Nurse. CPR certification.
ExperienceMinimum of one year experience working with children and adolescents in a psychiatric facility or rehabilitation program. Minimum of three years supervisory experience preferred.
Physical RequirementsMust be able to verbally de‑escalate and physically restrain when necessary. Ability to perform CPR and First Aid. Ability to stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach, stand, walk, push, pull, lift, grasp. Individual must be able to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and move objects.
