Matrix Providers is hiring a Registered Nurse (Pediatric Dept. Pediatric Specialty) to join our team of talented professionals who provide health care services to our Military Service Members and their families in at Naval Medical Center Portsmouth .

  • Employment Status: Full-Time
  • Compensation: $42.75-$45/hour ; H&W $5.09/hr
  • Schedule: Monday
    - Friday 8:00am-4:30pm

The Registered Nurse (Pediatric Dept. Pediatric Specialty) must have and meet the following:

  • Education: Associates Degree of Nursing.
  • Experience: Possess a minimum of one (1) year of experience within the last two (2) years as an RN working in a pediatric clinical setting.
  • Certifications
    : BLS. Possess and maintain certification in Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS). Board Certification.
  • Licensure: Current, full, active, and unrestricted license to practice as a Registered Nurse.

Registered Nurse (Pediatric Dept. Pediatric Specialty) Core

Job Duties:

The Registered Nurse (RN) provides comprehensive nursing care to pediatric patients in an ambulatory clinical setting, including patients with acute and chronic medical conditions, well-baby patients, and well-child patients. The RN works collaboratively with physicians, nursing staff, Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs), corpsmen, interdisciplinary team members, and community resources to ensure safe, effective, patient-centered care.

  • Patient and Family

    Education:

    Provide individualized education to pediatric patients and their families regarding clinical findings, medications and their safe use, wound care, medical equipment, available community resources, and patient/family responsibilities in the plan of care. Tailor education to the developmental, emotional, and physical needs of each patient and family.
  • Clinical Education and Preparation: Educate patients and families regarding laboratory testing, prescribed medications, preparation for procedures, treatment plans, and health promotion activities in accordance with the physician's established plan of care.
  • Health Promotion and Preventive Care: Promote health maintenance, wellness, disease prevention, and preventive health initiatives for pediatric patients receiving care in the ambulatory setting.
  • Patient Assessment and Nursing Care: Utilize the nursing process to assess and evaluate patient needs, develop appropriate nursing interventions, and collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary team members to provide safe and effective patient care.
  • Care Coordination and Referrals: Maintain effective communication and coordination with multidisciplinary healthcare professionals and community referral services. Facilitate appropriate referrals based on identified patient needs, including referrals to social services, health benefits, case management, and other available resources.
  • Clinical Support: Assist healthcare providers during examinations, treatments, and medical procedures as required. Ensure necessary supplies, equipment, and patient education materials are available and ready for use.
  • Patient Monitoring: Observe patients receiving treatments or procedures for potential adverse reactions or changes in condition. Assess and reassess patients as clinically indicated and promptly notify the healthcare provider of concerns or changes requiring further evaluation.
  • Continuity of Care: Respond on behalf of healthcare providers to referrals and requests for continued care from the Health Benefits Office, discharge planners, and other appropriate services following a patient's discharge from an inpatient setting.
