Matrix Providers is hiring a Nurse Practitioner to join our team of talented professionals who provide health care services to our Military Service Members and their families in at Portsmouth, VA .

  • Employment Status: Full-Time
  • Compensation: This is an hourly posiition, paid bi-weekly.
    • $53.68-$56.50 /hour
    • $10K Sign on Bonus
  • Schedule: Monday-Friday 7am-4:30pm

The Nurse Practitioner (NP) Pediatric Pulmonary Medicine must have and meet the following:

  • Master’s Degree in Nursing. Possess current certification as a Pediatric NP by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) or National Board of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners (NBPNA/P).
  • Provide proof of professional development through continuing education within the last twenty-four (24) months. Possess a minimum of two (2) years of experience within the preceding three (3) years as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner in a clinical setting.
  • Possess and maintain certification in Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) AND Basic Life Support (BLS)
  • Current, full, active, and unrestricted license as a Registered Nurse.
  • Provide two (2) letters of recommendation written within the last two (2) years attesting to the HCW’s clinical skills. At least one (1) letter must be from a physician or nurse practitioner who has personally observed and evaluated the HCW and who can attest to the HCW’s clinical competence in the care of patients. The other letter may be from a clinic or hospital administrator, physician or nurse who has personal knowledge of the HCW’s patient care skills in a similar clinical environment.

    Reference letters shall attest to the HCW’s communication skills and ability to relate to patients as well as professional and other interpersonal skills among staff members and must include name, title, phone number, date of reference, address and signature of the individual providing reference.

Nurse Practitioner (NP) Pediatric Pulmonary Medicine Core

Job Duties:

The Nurse Practitioner – Pediatric Pulmonary Medicine provides comprehensive, specialized care to pediatric patients with acute and chronic pulmonary, allergy, asthma, and cystic fibrosis conditions. The Nurse Practitioner works collaboratively with physicians, nursing staff, ancillary services, patients, and families to assess clinical needs, develop and implement treatment plans, coordinate follow-up care, provide patient and caregiver education, and support both outpatient and inpatient pediatric pulmonary services.

This position requires strong pediatric clinical assessment skills, independent clinical judgment within the Nurse Practitioner's authorized scope of practice, excellent communication skills, and the ability to coordinate interdisciplinary care for medically complex pediatric patients.

Clinical Assessment & Patient Care:

  • Obtain a focused history of the patient's present illness and pertinent medical information.
  • Review past medical and surgical history, immunization status, allergies, developmental status, and current medications.
  • Obtain, assess, and interpret pertinent vital signs.
  • Perform comprehensive and focused physical examinations.
  • Order, perform when appropriate, and interpret diagnostic and ancillary testing, including laboratory and radiologic studies.
  • Formulate clinical impressions and assessments based on the patient's history, physical examination, and diagnostic findings.
  • Develop and initiate appropriate treatment plans within the Nurse Practitioner's scope of practice.
  • Determine appropriate patient disposition and establish follow-up care.
  • Perform minor surgical procedures within the authorized scope of practice.
  • Collect, document, and maintain examination and clinical data in the appropriate medical record format.
