Position: SECURITY SPECIALIST with Security Clearance
Duties
* You will participate in the planning, design, development and implementation of security plans and programs.
* You will perform audits and inspections to ensure that the reactor fuel security program is properly implemented.
* You will conduct evaluations of the security systems and assess the impact of new regulations and policies to improve fuel security operations.
* You will plan and conduct drills and exercises to evaluate the security posture of civilian and military assets at reactor fuel facilities. Requirements Conditions of employment

* Generally, current federal employees applying for GS jobs must serve at least one year at the next lower grade level. This requirement is called time-in-grade. Time-in-grade requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement.
* Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.
* Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service.
* You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
* You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
* Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
* This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
* Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
* This is a Security Professional Educational Development (SPeD) position and requires DoD certification. Selectee must obtain and maintain certification within prescribed time frames. Qualifications Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
* Experience implementing knowledge and understanding of security requirements for special nuclear material to include the procedures involved in the refueling and defueling of nuclear submarines.
* Experience coordinating the deployment and assignment of Marine Corps Security Force.
* Experience using investigative, audit and surveillance techniques to evaluate compliance with regulations and requirements.
* Experience of a wide range of security concepts principles and practices to review independently, analyze and resolve difficult and complex security problems.
* Experience recognizing special needs of complex security issues and allocating resources in an effective and efficient manner. Additional qualification information can be found from the following Office of Personnel Management web site:
