Job Description Sky Bridge Tactical is seeking a Destruction Center Lead (Material Coordinator) to manage and oversee day-to-day operations of the Norfolk Naval Shipyard (NNSY) Security Destruction Center. This role directly supervises a four-person operator team responsible for the collection, transport, and physical destruction of classified and Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI) in accordance with DoD and NAVSEA security requirements. The Lead serves as the primary point of contact for daily coordination with shipyard security personnel and is responsible for the safe, compliant, and continuous operation of the Destruction Center.
Key Responsibilities
Manage, coordinate, and oversee daily NNSY Destruction Center operations, providing direct oversight of four (4) Operators
Coordinate via phone and/or NMCI email with shipyard points of contact to schedule and execute burn bag pickups
Operate a government-owned vehicle to collect and transport burn bags across the shipyard
Operate and troubleshoot two industrial-sized disintegrators (fed via conveyor belt), the external air evacuation system, compactor dumpster, and degausser
Conduct inspections of the full disintegrator system — including ductwork, outside air system, and cutting section — to clear paper clogs and operator-caused jams
Operate backup NSA-approved office shredders (including shredder trash removal) when disintegrators are down
Correctly sort incoming burn bag material to prevent unauthorized items from damaging equipment
Handle basic hand tools (hammers, screwdrivers, wrenches) for minor equipment troubleshooting
Notify NNSY Code 1122 Information and Industrial Security Branch of burn bag policy infractions or equipment issues affecting destruction operations
Open, close, and maintain the classified storage area; safeguard all classified and CUI material delivered to the facility
Maintain facility cleanliness at the end of each workday
Handle minor personnel complaints or operational issues as they arise; notify government oversight of significant personnel changes
Perform alternate authorized duties (material staging/sorting, inventory control, chain-of-custody documentation, preventative maintenance support, facility security checks) during periods of government equipment downtime
Mandatory Qualifications
Active SECRET security clearance with eligibility for Restricted Data (RD) access, in place prior to start of performance
U.S. citizenship (required for Red NAVSEA badge/RD access)
Ability to pass a background check and obtain a Common Access Card (CAC) / DBIDS credential for shipyard access
Valid driver's license and ability to operate a government-owned vehicle in an industrial setting
Ability to lift/carry 25–50 lbs repeatedly throughout the workday
Ability to climb/traverse a vertical ladder over 20 feet high (outside air system inspections)
Ability to use basic hand tools (hammers, screwdrivers, wrenches) to inspect and troubleshoot equipment
Ability to solve basic machinery issues (e.g., clearing paper clogs/jams)
Ability to maintain a regular, full-time on-site schedule, Monday–Friday, 0700–1530
Strong problem-solving, prioritization, and sound-judgment skills; ability to manage unforeseen/emergent requirements and associated workplace stress
