Duties
* You will lay out work from blueprints, sketches, drawings and oral instructions.
* You will utilize trade methods and processes to ensure conformance to requirements.
* You will Install wireways, cable racks, and associated cabling to interconnect ships power, communications, lighting, fire control, instrumentation and other electrical systems.
* You will troubleshoot faulty systems/circuitry to identify problem areas and initiates action to commence repairs. Requirements Conditions of employment

* Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.

* You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
* This is a bargaining unit position.
* This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
* Incumbent may be selected for assignment to overseas area where urgency of work may require workdays in excess of the usual 8-hour day or working different shifts.
* Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
* Certain incentives such as Recruitment Bonus may be authorized to eligible selectees.
* You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination. Qualifications Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most trade and labor occupations, you must show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying.

Qualification requirements emphasis is on quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time.

This job has a screen-out element which will be used to determine minimum eligibility for this job. Applicants who do not receive a minimum of two points on the screen-out element(s) will be found ineligible. The Screen-out Element for this position is: ABILITY TO WORK WITHOUT MORE THAN NORMAL SUPERVISION such as:
* Ability to read and interpret blueprints, specifications, sketches, and electrical schematics. Proficiency in laying out work, operating various machines, and using test equipment such as multimeters, meggers, and ammeters. A working knowledge of shipboard electrical installation techniques and processes.
* Ability to operate a variety of power and hand tools (e.g., drill presses, hydraulic punches, grinders). A solid mathematical background and the ability to apply electrical trade theory to perform both routine and complex work.
* Ability to utilize systems such as power and lighting, alarm systems, and motor controllers.
* Ability to understand electrical safety practices and the ability to follow all prescribed safety rules, especially concerning energy isolation (lockout/tagout).
* Ability to apply electrical theory to troubleshoot faulty circuits and identify problem areas. Additional qualification information can be found from the following Office of Personnel Management website:
