* You will interpret work orders and repair requests to determine required boat building and repair assignments.
* You build temporary wood supports and shoring of various structural parts and large assemblies of boats.
* You will lay linoleum and other floor, deck, or ladder tread coverings on boats.
* You will install insulating materials such as cork or fiberglass on boats.
* You will perform boat building repairs, maintenance, major overhaul and renovations, from measurements given in docking plans.
* You will set up, operate and maintain various types of woodworking machinery such as bandsaws, jigsaws, planers, joiners, molders, mortisers, and sanders. Requirements Conditions of employment

* You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
* You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
* You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
* This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
* Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
* You will be required to lift/carry up to 50 pounds in weight.
* You will be required to distinguish between colors and shades of colors.
* You will be required to climb ladders and scaffolding.
* You will be required to work in small and/or confined spaces. Qualifications Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most trade and labor occupations, you must show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying.

The Screen-out Element for this position is: ABILITY TO DO THE WORK OF THE POSITION WITHOUT MORE THAN NORMAL SUPERVISION
* Performing the overhaul, maintenance and repair on boats.
* Devising fixtures, templates, and jigs to hold or guide items in woodworking machinery.
* Planning, laying out, measuring, cutting, constructing, or installing materials according to dimensional requirements and specifications.
* Working with faired lines and curves to obtain watertight joints and fittings.
* Positioning, building up, and securing keel blocks, bilge blocks, and other structures to the dry dock floor upon which boats will rest when the boat is hauled out of the water.
* Performing repair and maintenance on wooden boats such as YP's, yawls, sloops, knockabouts, motor launches, etc.
* Building wooden boat furniture such as tables, desks, chairs, cabinets, and lockers.
* Laminating, veneering, plastic overlaying, steam bending, and grain matching wood working materials.
* Fabricating, assembling, fitting, installing or repairing wood deck houses and bulkheads.
* Setting up and operating woodworking machinery such as band saws, jigsaws, planers, joiners, molders, and sanders.
