POSITION SUMMARY:
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND ACCOUNTABILITIES:
1. Troubleshoots malfunctions in electrical circuits as necessary. Inspects wiring, checks connections and power sources, and logs repair needs.
2. Installs and maintains motors, wiring, and all electrical equipment, including control work for lighting, motors, and instrumentation.
3. Restores power when failures have occurred and restarts and resets equipment as necessary.
4. Designs circuitry for special installations or electrical modifications.
5. Follows all safety rules and procedures and operates electrical equipment in accordance with established safety regulations and department policies.
6. Ensures all work is performed in accordance with NEC, OSHA, NFPA, etc. requirements.
7. Makes correct and effective repairs, adjustments, etc. to electrical-mechanical equipment.
8. Performs skilled routine and emergency electrical-mechanical work.
9. Performs troubleshooting, diagnostics, and analysis of electrical-mechanical equipment.
10. Reads blueprints of electrical/mechanical equipment.
11. Performs Lockout/Tagout as required.
12. When performing maintenance work, checks to determine if other, unassigned work in the immediate area needs attention and proactively responds to the need; reports the same to the Senior Electrician and/or Electrical Foreman.
13. Document and report time worked, and materials used.
14. Makes routine decisions involving electrical-mechanical equipment operation and maintenance, and safe work practices.
15. Performs all duties in a safe manner and adheres to all laws governing vehicle operation; maintains a safe driving record with zero preventable accidents.
16. Monitor contractors performing electrical-mechanical work.
17. Inspect the condition of equipment at the end of the day and ensure it is ready for next use.
18. Performs all other duties as assigned.

3. Documents test and inspection dates and results
4. Maintains inventory records for electrical supplies.
5. Completes work orders, list materials issued and used, and documents electrical work repairs
3. Assumes responsibility for establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with area staff, other departments, and with management.
4. Assumes responsibility for related duties as required or assigned.
PERFORMANCE MEASUREMENTS:
Assignments are completed in accordance with established policies, procedures, and safety regulations. New installations are completed efficiently and effectively.
Electrical equipment is well maintained and in good operating condition. Unscheduled downtime is minimized.
Electrical problems and power failures are promptly addressed and resolved.
Maintenance records, work orders, and inventory logs are accurate and up-to-date.
Management is appropriately informed of area activities and of any significant problems.
Good communication and coordination exist with area staff and departments.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Certification:
High school graduate or equivalent Possesses and maintains a valid State-issued (Journeyman or Master) State Electrical License.
Required Knowledge:
Knowledge of wiring, circuitry, installation and maintenance. Knowledge of the tools, equipment, and materials common to the electrical/mechanical trade. Knowledge of applicable electrical codes, standards, and regulations. Knowledge of electrical applications for high and low voltage electrical systems. Skill in the installation, repair, and maintenance of all types of electrical system equipment and components.
Experience
Required:
A minimum of two (2) years of electrical repair and maintenance experience.
Skills/Abilities:
Well-organized and detail oriented. Effective verbal and written communication skills. Able to meet deadlines and manage projects. Able to coordinate well with other departments and personnel. Must be willing to work a flexible schedule. Ability to obtain a Criminal History Background Check and drug screen. Valid Virginia Driver License within 6 months.

Climbing:
Including ladders, scaffolding, ramps, poles, etc.
Stooping:
Bending downward and forward at the waist. Requires full use of lower extremities and back muscles.

Moving on hands and knees or hands and feet.

Extending hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction.
Standing:
For extended time periods.
Walking:
Especially for long distances.

Using upper body to press against something with steady force.
Pulling:
Using upper body to draw, drag, haul, or tug objects.
Lifting:
Use of upper body and back muscles to lift objects.
Finger Dexterity:
Using primarily just the fingers to make small movements such as typing, picking up small objects, or pinching fingers together.
Grasping:
Using fingers and palm on an object.
Feeling:
Perceiving sensual characteristics of objects including size, shape, texture, temperature, etc. through touch.
