Summary

The Pipe Welder is responsible for performing pipe welding operations in accordance with work specifications, safety standards, and quality requirements. The role is performed in a professional manner and supports the overall production objectives of the organization.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Prioritize safety and adhere to quality standards during all pipe welding operations.
  • Configure welding machines according to job requirements or Welding Procedure Specifications for GTAW/SMAW pipe welding.
  • Utilize personal basic tools and equipment for welding tasks when not provided by the workplace.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of work areas while ensuring proper care of equipment and facilities.
  • Adhere to all company policies and rules.
  • Demonstrate keen attention to detail and focus on assigned tasks.
  • Comply with safety regulations and maintain high‑quality standards.
  • Collaborate with team members to enhance productivity and efficiency.
  • Assist in preparing pipe products for shipment.
  • Report any hazardous work conditions or practices to the supervisor.
  • Be capable of manually lifting raw materials, final products, and packed aluminum items for shipment, weighing up to 60 pounds, or using a hoist.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Understand and follow verbal and written instructions.
  • Knowledge of welding standards such as Tech‑Pub‑278, Tech‑Pub‑248, MIL‑STD‑1689 and proper joint designs IAW MIL‑STD‑22D.
  • Ability to weld all types of materials, including TIG and stick welding of plate, pipe, sockets, butts, consumable rings, backing rings, and open butts.
  • Experience with various metals including copper, monel, stainless steel, aluminum, and carbon steel.
  • Proficiency in using magnet‑base mirrors for TIG and stick welding.
  • Skill in troubleshooting TIG line and machine problems.
  • Ability to perform pipe testing in restricted positions.
  • Willingness to learn and display a dependable work ethic.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, quality manuals, and procedure manuals.
  • Familiarity with the metric system.
  • Capability of standing continuously for extended periods.
  • Willingness to work 40+ hours per week.
Education and Experience

High school graduate or GED. Six months to one year of relevant experience and/or training in aluminum welding. Prior experience with pipe welding is essential.

Working Conditions

Work environment involves exposure to various weather conditions, confined spaces or heights, prolonged standing, and physical exertion with frequent bending, stooping, and reaching. Noise levels may be moderate to high and work is performed in close contact with other team members.

Welding equipment and personal protective equipment.
