PAY RANGE
: $20.00-$40.00 per hour DOE
Remove, repair, overhaul, install and align main propulsion machinery and related equipment/components. Also remove, repair, overhaul, install and align equipment for auxiliary systems such as condensers, compressors, pumps, forced-draft blowers, main feed pumps, valves, cargo handling machinery, anchor handling gear, boat davits, cranes, elevators, conveyors, firefighting equipment, machine shop equipment, galley, and laundry equipment.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities- Install and repair foundations for operating machinery and primary structures/components of ships’ armament.
- Install, adjust, set, and repair or replace various control/regulating or safety devices such as meters, gauges, valves, governors, and automatic alarms. Test shipboard machinery pierside or on sea trials to verify satisfactory operation and acceptance.
- Install ship machinery (propelling machinery, auxiliary motors, pumps, ventilating equipment, steering gear) from blueprints using hand tools, calipers, and micrometers.
- Install below-deck auxiliaries (evaporators, stills, heaters, pumps, condensers, boilers) and connect them to steam pipe systems.
- Test and inspect installed machinery and equipment during dock and sea trials.
- Ensure work is performed safely and meets quality standards.
- Maintain high attention to detail and focus on assigned tasks.
- Follow all safety rules and quality standards.
- Collaborate with team members to maximize productivity and efficiency.
- Report any unsafe conditions or practices to supervisor.
- Willingness to learn, dependable work ethic.
- Ability to read and interpret documents (safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, quality manuals, procedures).
- High school diploma or GED.
- Within the shipyard with exposure to varied conditions (temperature, noise, chemicals, fumes, particles, weather, dust, humidity, hazardous machinery).
- Some travel required.
- Hand tools, power tools.
