Responsibilities- Under general supervision, determine eligibility for public assistance programs and services, including securing and verifying case information; report to the Benefits Programs Supervisor.
- Interview individuals to determine initial and ongoing eligibility for benefits and public assistance programs; explain scope of multiple benefit programs and determine eligibility for assistance; explain applicant's rights and responsibilities; read, interpret, and apply policies and procedures; secure and verify financial, social and employment data from applicant; assist applicants/recipients in completing required forms, as necessary.
- Process applications by collecting and analyzing data received from customers and various electronic sources. Establish and maintain electronic case files by utilizing documentary evidence to substantiate case determinations while keeping customers informed of case status. Manage assigned cases by organizing workload, establishing priorities, ensuring that established deadlines are met, and prepare monthly reports.
High School Diploma or equivalency and six months to 1 year of experience in program eligibility, interviewing, information collection or case management work; or any equivalent combination of education and experience providing the required knowledge, skills and abilities listed previously.
Specialized KnowledgeUnder general supervision, is responsible for determining eligibility for SNAP, Medicaid (Families and Children, (ABD) Aged/Blind/Disabled, (LTSS) Long-Term Care) and Auxiliary Grants.
