AMP is hiring a Scale Dispatcher to work onsite in Portsmouth, Virginia.
As a Scale Dispatcher, you will be responsible for operating facility scale systems, coordinating daily routing and dispatch activities, processing billing and documentation, and serving as a primary point of contact for customers, drivers, and internal teams. This role plays a critical part in ensuring accurate reporting, efficient logistics operations, and high-quality customer service.
Essential Job Functions Scale Operations & Dispatch- Learn and operate scale program software including “Weigh-it,” “Haul-it,” and TRUX
- Weigh inbound and outbound trucks and accurately record transaction data
- Prepare daily scale logs and operational reports
- Set roll-off and tractor-trailer routes for the following day and adjust routes as needed
- Obtain and assign daily paperwork/work orders for tractor-trailer drivers
- Close out roll-off and tractor-trailer routes from the previous day
- Ensure all routes are closed accurately for bi-monthly billing cycles
- Enter tickets and route data for roll-off and tractor-trailer operations
- Input overnight and weekend vehicle activity and maintain night driver logs
- Monitor facility camera systems as required
- Communicate with plant personnel to ensure proper loading of materials
- Answer phones for scale operations, sales inquiries, and customer support
- Respond to emails regarding service requests, orders, and scheduling
- Direct pricing and sales inquiries to appropriate contacts
- Develop knowledge of the customer base and proactively support scheduling and coordination
- Enter new services and arrange additional containers as requested
- Prepare and distribute customer quotes
- Schedule appointments for outgoing materials, exports, and customer services
- Ensure shipping and receiving paperwork is accurate and complete
- Enter service requests, sales orders, and purchase orders for billing
- Close out fulfilled orders and reconcile billing records
- Match SPSA tickets to AMP disposal tickets
- Send disposal tickets and signed Bills of Lading (BOL) to partners
- Obtain disposal tickets from vendors
- Send daily SS tonnage reports
- Review and verify prior-day reports
- Prepare and distribute daily, weekly, and monthly activity and inventory reports
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
Required- High school diploma or GED
- 1+ years of experience in dispatch, scale operations, logistics, or administrative support
- Basic math and data entry proficiency
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong organizational and time management abilities
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
- Proficiency with computers and office software
- Ability to handle confidential information
- Experience with TRUX, Weigh-it, or Haul-it software
- Experience in waste, recycling, logistics, or industrial environments
- Familiarity with DOT and OSHA regulations
- Public Weighmaster certification
- Associates degree or related coursework preferred
