Summary:

The Mission of the Idaho Department of Correction (IDOC) is to create a model correctional system that provides equitable access to programming and opportunities that reflect community experience, foster connections, and restore victims of crime. The Idaho Department of Correction is currently recruiting for a full time Instructional Assistant at the Saint Anthony Work Camp (SAWC) in Saint Anthony, Idaho.

Responsibilities:

  • Monitor class activities under the supervision of the instructor, executes lesson plans, monitor and appraise student learning results.
  • Check and correct student assignments.
  • Monitor student behavior and progress, reports problems, and suggests modifications to student instruction plan.
  • Consult with teacher and staff members on academic and behavioral planning, management, and evaluation.
  • Deliver TABE testing services and maintain testing supplies.
  • Maintain student electronic records and files.
  • Participate in staff training and professional development.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all information regarding residents.
  • Conduct TABE assessment to establish baseline for learning and reoccurring progress thereafter.

Minimum Qualifications: Your resume needs to clearly articulate how your skills, education and experience meet the qualifications below –

  • Some knowledge of behavioral management as related to an educational environment. Typically gained through completion of in-service training workshops or coursework OR experience in applying behavior management in a work setting such as a Teacher's Aide.
  • Experience presenting lesson plans and educational materials to students in a group setting. Typically gained by on-the-job training where individual or group lessons were presented OR completion of a course of study which included methods of instruction and presenting educational materials.
  • Experience entering and retrieving data and maintaining records using an automated record system. Typically gained by at least six months of work experience entering and retrieving data and maintaining records using an automated record system, to include skill in typing labels, lists, forms, and reports.

  • Willing to work in a correctional facility.
  • We are looking for candidates who can adapt to a flexible schedule, including non-traditional hours, to help support smooth facility operations and team coverage.
  • Ability to obtain Paraprofessional Certification as required for hire within 3 years.
