The Associate Engineer (AE) position is an entry‑level developmental engineering role focused on building engineering fundamentals to develop essential skills, networks, and experiences. The AE will participate in a well‑rounded Supply Chain program with rotations through critical supply‐chain functions, corporate, engineering, or operations related positions. Participation will prepare an individual for future roles in project engineering, technical engineering, project management, and/or plant engineering.
Key Responsibilities- Design, cost estimate, and execute engineering projects using Lamb Weston project management and design management processes on assigned capital investment projects.
- Resolve assigned technical issues, providing professional write‑ups that include solution recommendations.
- Develop safety, production, and quality operational skills by acting as a plant production team leader.
- Shadow all maintenance divisions (processing, packaging, boiler/steam, ammonia refrigeration, wastewater/environmental).
- Develop, schedule, and execute a maintenance plan.
- Build an understanding of and network within Lamb Weston supply chain by meeting with and discussing roles and responsibilities across functional teams, particularly engineering.
- Complete Lamb Weston safety trainings and execute safety processes during production/maintenance onboarding, earning OSHA
30 certification. - Attend Lamb Weston Process Safety Management and HAZWOPPER training to develop ammonia safety skills.
- Participate in Lamb Weston‑specific training and achieve Lamb Weston Process Quality certification.
- Sitting or standing for up to 12hours a day (sometimes longer) in a construction environment.
- Lifting up to 15pounds occasionally (up to 25pounds infrequently).
- Walking, climbing ladders, and accessing difficult locations in a construction environment.
- Exposure to plant and construction noises, vibrations, and temperature changes from hot to cold.
- Ability to work and travel domestically and internationally for up to 4weeks at a time, depending on project phase.
- Ability to safely operate a company vehicle for up to 8hours at a time.
Preferred Qualifications
- B.S. or B.A. in Engineering.
- Fundamentals of Engineering Exam pass and Engineer in Training certification.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite.
- Basic skills in Autodesk applications – Inventor, AutoCAD, Navisworks (preferred).
- Basic skills in meeting facilitation and leadership.
- Basic skills in dealing with ambiguity, problem solving, and research capabilities.
- Demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills.
- 1–2years related experience in a leadership/management position (preferred).
- Internship in engineering discipline (preferred).
- Engineering design project execution experience (preferred).
