Key Responsibilities
  • Support the integration, testing, and maintenance of complex diagnostic analyzer prototypes and systems.
  • Act as the primary technical resource for the ongoing maintenance, calibration, and advanced troubleshooting of prototype instrumentation.
  • Quickly diagnose and resolve electromechanical, fluidic, and software integration issues to minimize downtime.
  • Ensure the prototype instruments used for critical data generation (e.g., Design Verification) are performing optimally, correctly configured, and fully operational.
  • Support system integration, sub‑assembly, and modification of complex electromechanical, fluidic, and optical systems for R&D.
  • Execute test protocols, accurately collect, record, and organize test data, and assist engineers in the development and execution of V&V plans and test methods.
  • Maintain meticulous and complete laboratory records, including maintenance logs, configuration records, test data sheets, and work orders, ensuring all documentation adheres to the Quality Management System (QMS).
  • Identify recurring issues or inefficiencies in prototype performance and testing processes, and recommend practical, technical solutions or design modifications to the engineering team.
  • Ensure all lab activities, maintenance, and documentation comply with industry standards, specifically ISO 13485 and FDA Quality System Regulations (QSR).
Required Qualifications and Experience
  • Associate’s degree or technical diploma in Biomedical Engineering Technology, Mechanical Engineering Technology, Electrical/Electronics Engineering Technology, or a related STEM field.
  • 3+ years of relevant experience, preferably within a regulated Medical Device or IVD product development environment.
  • Proven, hands‑on ability to diagnose and repair complex technical issues involving electromechanical systems, fluidics, and control electronics.
  • Expert use of test and measurement instruments such as oscilloscopes, multimeters, power supplies and precision hand tools.
  • Ability to accurately read, interpret, and work from technical manuals, schematics, and engineering drawings.
  • Demonstrated skills in mechanical assembly, basic wiring/soldering, and prototype modification (e.g., using 3D printing or light machining).
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills with a persistent drive to pinpoint the root cause of failures, especially under tight project deadlines.
Preferred Skills
  • Exceptional focus on accuracy and consistency, crucial for data integrity and maintaining required regulatory documentation.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively interface with engineers, scientists, and quality assurance personnel.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize urgent issues, and work effectively independently in a fast‑paced R&D setting.

Base Pay Range: $69,370 – $95,381. Factors which may affect starting pay within this range may include geography/market, skills, education, experience, and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
