Overview
Northwest Specialty Hospital is seeking a detail‑oriented, customer‑service focused, Practice Support Coordinator to join our Pre‑Surgical Team! We need someone with a professional demeanor, can work well under stress, will provide great customer service to our patients, and is able to multitask!
ResponsibilitiesUnder the direction of the assigned leader, the Practice Support Coordinator is responsible for ensuring all clerical duties are accurately performed and support the Pre‑Surgical Team. This includes communicating with referring clinic offices, obtaining necessary documentation, managing the flow of medical records, entering accurate data into the automated admitting/registration system, scheduling patients for office visits, assisting with registration and pre‑registration functions, fielding incoming calls, and maintaining confidentiality of patients, coworkers, and the hospital.
The position also works closely with other departments to ensure patient charts are complete for treatment and handles stressful situations with patience and tact while delivering impeccable service.
- Updates patient accounts and information
- Schedules patients as needed
- Registers patients as needed
- Verifies patient coverage for primary, secondary and tertiary
- Collects patient payments and sets up payment plans
- Communicates with patients, other medical offices, and insurance companies
- Ensures all necessary paperwork and records are ready for patient appointments
- Collaborates with nursing team regarding scheduling of patients
- Collaborates with medical records team as needed
- Keeps information confidential and a HIPAA‑secure environment
- Provides mentorship and guidance to other clerical staff
Preferred Experience
- Demonstrates eligibility for employment in the United States.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Ability to relate and work effectively with others.
- Willingness to participate in goal‑setting and educational activities for own growth and advancements.
- Demonstrated verbal communication skills in English.
- Demonstrated computer skills in utilizing word processing, integrated database and other functions.
- Demonstrated ability to utilize and understand mathematical calculations.
- Demonstrated knowledge of medical terminology.
- Two years medical office experience.
- Five years medical office experience preferred.
