Position:
Senior Site Reliability Engineer + MongoDB
The Platform Database Engineer is responsible for designing, deploying, administering, and optimizing Mongo
DB (Atlas and on-premise) databases within a large-scale, cloud-based enterprise ecosystem. The role combines deep database expertise with SRE principles to ensure performance, reliability, scalability, and automation across critical data platforms.
- Architect, implement, and maintain Mongo
DB Atlas and non-Atlas environments, ensuring high availability, scalability, and security. - Design and enforce resiliency and disaster recovery strategies, including backup, restore, and multi-region failover.
- Optimize database performance and query execution to support application development teams through all SDLC phases.
- Develop and manage infrastructure-as-code solutions (Terraform, Git Ops) for database provisioning and automation.
- Implement and refine observability and monitoring solutions using Dynatrace, Cloud Watch, and Mongo
DB native telemetry. - Manage access control, auditing, and encryption to meet enterprise security and compliance standards.
- Collaborate with application, Dev Ops, and platform teams to drive continuous improvement in performance and operational excellence.
- Lead incident response for database-related issues, drive root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions.
- Mentor and guide technical teams, contributing to documentation, standards, and design reviews.
- Other duties as assigned by manager.
- May mentor junior DBAs or SRE engineers.
- Internal:
Application developers, cloud operations, platform engineering, Info Sec, compliance, and architecture teams. - External:
Cloud vendors (AWS, Mongo
DB Atlas support), third‑party monitoring and observability providers.
- Remote:
This role is fully remote, and the associate is expected to perform assigned responsibilities from a home‑based environment.
- Minimum of 4+ years’ experience as a Mongo
DB DBA, including 4+ years in Mongo
DB Atlas administration. - Strong experience in AWS ecosystem (EC2, EKS, Cloud Watch, IAM, KMS, VPC, Lambda).
- Proficiency in Terraform, Git Ops, CI/CD automation, and containerized workloads (EKS/Kubernetes).
- Experience with Dynatrace, Prometheus, or equivalent observability platforms.
- Strong Linux administration and scripting (Python, Bash).
- Excellent analytical, communication, and documentation skills.
- Available for on‑call rotation and incident response as required.
