SUMMARY

This job description outlines the responsibilities and qualifications for a Packaging and Shipping Supervisor. This role is a key managerial position within the manufacturing and distribution process, focusing on the final stages of product handling - packaging, custom engraving, and shipping.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Operational Oversight: Oversees packaging, custom etching, and shipping departments to ensure accuracy, compliance, and efficiency.
  • Quality Control & Compliance: Inspects outbound shipments to meet customer requirements and maintains accuracy in shipping records.
  • KPI Management: Develops, reviews, and communicates monthly key performance indicators (KPIs) to track performance.
  • Staff Leadership & Development: Cross-trains staff to meet shifting demands, evaluates employee performance (annually and as needed), and manages attendance/discipline.
  • Standardize Processes: Develop and maintain "Standard Work" to ensure consistency across shifts
  • Process Improvement: Implements continuous improvement initiatives (e.g., Lean manufacturing, 5S) to reduce costs and increase productivity.
  • Inventory & Supplies: Manages cycle count accuracy and monitors operating supplies to prevent shortages.
  • Liaison Duties: Acts as a liaison between Sales and the Pack/Ship teams, coordinating on special instructions and ship dates.
  • Documentation & Logistics: Assists with Shipping Coordinator duties, including order management, Bills of Lading, tracking, and international documentation.
  • Safety & Compliance: Ensures compliance with all standard safety practices and company policies.
  • Attendance: Regular attendance is an essential function of this position

SCHEDULE

Actual schedule follows work needs, but in general:

Mon-Thurs 6:30am to 4:00pm

Friday 6:30am to 2:00pm

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent minimum.
  • Experience: 5+ years of experience in shipping, logistics, and/or warehouse operations, with strong leadership experience managing cross-functional teams.
  • Technical

    Skills:

    Proficient with computers, Microsoft programs, and experienced with ERP and shipping manifest systems.
  • Knowledge: Deep knowledge of domestic and international shipping processes and terminology.
LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read, write and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos. Have the ability to effectively present information in one on one and small group situations to customers, clients and other employees of the organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
