Summary/Objectives:The Area Coordinator is responsible for coordinating and overseeing the day-to-day operations within an assigned production area to ensure efficient workflow, high-quality output, and compliance with company policies and safety standards. This role focuses on managing staff assignments, monitoring area performance, and ensuring the team is building to schedule according to established priorities and plans. The Area Coordinator reports directly to the Team Lead and serves as a key link between production employees and leadership.
While this role supports team development and operational success, it does not include responsibilities for approving timecards, managing employee performance documentation, or administering disciplinary actions.
- Coordinate and direct daily activities of production and assembly staff within the assigned area.
- Assign work tasks to meet production goals, delivery schedules, and quality standards.
- Ensure that all production is completed according to schedule, escalating any challenges, resource shortages, or inaccurate information to the Team Lead or higher for resolution.
- Monitor workflow efficiency, material availability, and process accuracy to maintain consistent production output.
- Ensure all production processes are followed according to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and ISO 9001 requirements.
- Communicate daily build goals, priorities, and any changes to team members to maintain alignment with production targets.
- Track and report production status and metrics such as traveler accuracy and work order progress.
- Collaborate with the Team Lead, Planning, and Management teams to ensure equipment reliability and readiness.
- Coordinate with Inventory and Purchasing teams to maintain material flow and prevent shortages.
- Identify process or equipment issues and promptly elevate them to Engineering, Quality, or the Team Lead for corrective action.
- Provide clear direction and daily guidance to team members, ensuring understanding of priorities, safety requirements, and quality expectations.
- Support on‑job training, cross‑training, and skill development to increase team flexibility and efficiency, supports management of training matrix.
- Serve as the first point of contact for questions, concerns, or immediate needs within the production area.
- Foster teamwork, accountability, and adherence to company standards of conduct and performance.
- Ensure that all employees follow company policies and procedures, addressing noncompliance or potential violations by escalating to the Team Lead.
- Communicate operational needs, resource shortages, and workflow concerns promptly to maintain continuous production.
- Participate in identifying and implementing process improvements to enhance efficiency and product quality.
- Support Lean manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives focused on reducing waste and optimizing workflow.
- Assist with data collection, analysis, and documentation to support root cause analysis and corrective actions.
- Encourage employee engagement in improvement efforts and share ideas with leadership for consideration.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment.
- Ensure compliance with all safety, environmental, and company procedures.
- Promote safety awareness and enforce all workplace safety rules and PPE requirements.
Minimum Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- 1+ years of manufacturing experience.
- Familiarity with IPC‑A‑610 standards.
- Commitment to maintaining safety, quality, and compliance in all activities.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality and safety.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office and ERP systems (e.g., Net Suite).
- Prior experience in a leadership or coordination role within a manufacturing or assembly environment.
