Position Summary
Shape Cutter/Crane Operator – 3rd shift, Sunday – Thursday, 11:00pm – 7:00am.
Compensation & Schedule$27.73 per hour plus $2 per hour shift differential.
Essential Functions- Maintain well‑organized inventory locations and records, including regular cycle counts.
- Understand and follow daily production schedules.
- Prepare, load, and communicate materials needed for the next 24 hours of production schedule.
- Use an overhead crane to load and unload material.
- Move materials according to daily schedules.
- Locate and position material onto a burn table for processing.
- Interpret prints to program equipment correctly.
- Communicate with multiple resources to gather and provide information for material movement and processing.
- Remove and properly dispose of scrap from burn table.
- Operate and maintain equipment used in the material processing area.
- Monitor trailer and railcar weight limits; communicate accordingly.
- Demonstrate excellent safety practices and behaviors in accordance with all Valmont safety policies and procedures.
- Perform various other duties required to ensure customer requests are met.
- Reports to the Large Pole Production Supervisor.
- 3‑5 years of relevant experience.
- Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal).
- Proficient computer skills (Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, IFS).
- Basic math skills.
- Proficient with tape measure, compass, micrometer, magnetic level, protractor, pressure gauges and calipers.
- Proficient in reading flat sheets and prints.
- Positive interaction with coworkers.
- Have at least one year of experience programming CNC machinery.
- Have at least one year of experience operating a forklift.
- Have 5+ years of relevant experience.
- Have 3+ years of inventory management experience.
- Capability to lift up to 50pounds (most frequent lift 20pounds).
- Ability to stand, stoop, bend, sit, and squat for the entire shift.
- Safely operate forklifts and other manufacturing equipment.
- Work in a non‑temperature‑controlled environment and outdoors under various weather conditions.
- Wear all required PPE.
- Pay attention to detail and follow directions.
- Maintain high safety awareness.
- Demonstrate passion and integrity, with a drive to excel and deliver exceptional results.
