About Idaho Youth RanchFor more than 70 years, Idaho Youth Ranch has been a lifeline for Idaho’s most vulnerable youth and families. Through residential treatment, outpatient counseling, equine therapy, emergency shelter, and a network of thrift stores, Idaho Youth Ranch helps youth navigate crisis and build brighter futures. Volunteers are the heartbeat of this mission—and we need someone dedicated to growing that volunteer community across the state.
PositionSummary
The Volunteer Services Recruitment VISTA will strengthen Idaho Youth Ranch’s capacity to recruit, retain, and mobilize volunteers—with a particular emphasis on North and East Idaho. This is a systems‑building role you’ll evaluate existing processes, design smarter recruitment strategies, forge community partnerships, and leave behind tools and frameworks that outlast your service term. If you love connecting people to purpose and building something that lasts, this role is for you.
Pleasenote
This is a capacity‑building role focused on creating sustainable systems and infrastructure—not a direct‑service or administrative support position.
What You’ll Do Evaluate & Improve Volunteer SystemsYou’ll start by digging into the history of Idaho Youth Ranch’s volunteer program to understand what has worked and where the gaps are. This means reviewing internal policies, analyzing current recruitment processes and tools, and gathering feedback from volunteers and staff through interviews and surveys. From there, you’ll revise recruitment procedures—including online platforms and partner channels—and create user guides and documentation that make the improved systems easy for staff to maintain long after your service term.
Build& Launch a Strategic Recruitment Plan
Working closely with the Volunteer Services team, you’ll research regional demographics across Idaho and identify the channels where local volunteers actively seek opportunities—social media, community centers, local events, and beyond. You’ll develop targeted recruitment strategies for each channel, launch and monitor campaigns, and adjust tactics based on engagement data. You’ll also create promotional materials and training sessions that equip current volunteers to serve as word‑of‑mouth ambassadors.
ForgeCommunity Partnerships
You’ll identify potential community partners—schools, businesses, faith groups, and nonprofits—in target regions, then initiate outreach to develop collaborative agreements and co‑branded volunteer opportunities. Your goal is to build a sustainable partnership network complete with a shared activities calendar, ongoing communication strategies, and relationship‑building practices that keep partnerships strong for years to come.
Ideal Candidate- A connector who thrives on building relationships and rallying communities around a shared mission.
- Comfortable with research, data analysis, and translating insights into strategy.
- Organized and self‑directed, with strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Familiarity with social media, volunteer management platforms, or CRM tools is a plus.
- Genuine passion for youth services, community development, or the nonprofit sector.
- Bachelor’s degree preferred but not required; relevant experience and drive matter most.
- Modest living allowance paid biweekly, plus a Segal Ameri Corps Education Award upon completion.
- Health coverage option, childcare assistance (if eligible), and choice of end‑of‑service stipend or additional education award.
- Non‑competitive eligibility for federal employment for one year after service.
- Professional development, networking, and mentorship within a mission‑driven organization.
