The bar lead oversees the staff and operations of a bar by making sure it’s clean, functioning efficiently, and inviting for customers to relax in. The main duties include scheduling employees and building their shift calendars, managing and resolving customer complaints, and ensuring the bar’s inventory is well-stocked.
Primary Responsibilities and Objectives:- Recruit, interview, hire, and train new bar staff employees
- Handle customer complaints
- Advertise the daily, weekly, and monthly promotions of the bar
- Ensure staff is following all food control and safety regulations
- Create employee schedules based on expected customer numbers
- High school diploma or GED is preferred
- At least one year in hospitality or restaurant experience a plus
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to diffuse conflict within the bar
- Developed problem-solving skills required
- Leadership skills required
- Organization skills required

- Required to complete and successfully pass the Avenue5 Fair Housing, Diversity and Inclusion Training within the first 30 days of employment
- Required to maintain a regular schedule which may require working outside of business hours, weekends, and non-traditional holidays
- May be required to be on-call and aid during staffing deficiencies on-site
- Exposure to an environment typically found in a hotel or restaurant
- Exposure to hot, cold, wet, humid, or windy conditions
- Ability to lift, push, and pull up to 50 pounds
- Ability to move on uneven surfaces
- Ability to move up and down several flights of stairs daily
- Must be able to observe and detect signs of emergency through visual and/or auditory cues
- Must be able to remain stationary, move around, reach, and position oneself as needed for extended periods of time
- Ability to communicate and express or exchange ideas with others as well as those activities in which they must convey detailed or important instructions to other workers accurately, loudly, or quickly
- Ability to perceive the nature of sounds at normal speaking levels, including the ability to receive detailed information through communication, and to make the discriminations in sound
- Ability to compare, copy, coordinate, synthesize, negotiate, communicate, and instruct
- Ability to tolerate stressful situations
- Talking and expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word. Those activities in which they must convey detailed or important spoken instructions to other workers accurately, loudly, or quickly
- Ability to work under minimal to moderate supervision
