POSITION SUMMARY: The Retail Manager – Firearms supervises the firearms department within the store, ensuring compliance with ATF, state and federal laws, and company policies and procedures. The role also manages merchandise presentation, inventory control, pricing, sales enhancements, staff selection and development, team training and coaching, and the overall customer service experience.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Supports a strong commitment to world‑class customer service and ensures a pleasant and productive shopping experience for all customers.
  • Executes all sales plans to meet or exceed financial targets set by the company.
  • Opens and closes the store and manages building keys and alarm codes.
  • Assumes “Manager on Duty” responsibilities.
  • Leads firearm compliance sales standards in the Firearms department to ensure adherence to ATF, state, local laws, and company policies, including records 4473, 3310, and other required firearm forms.
  • Leads firearm safe handling, safety, operations, and customer experience standards, including line management and queuing within the firearms department.
  • Maintains merchandising of firearms as directed by the Corporate Office.
  • Ensures all firearms‑operations‑related tasks are completed in a timely manner and in accordance with all policies, procedures, and regulations.
  • Partners with the Gun Vault Specialist Team to ensure compliance.
  • Staffs the department with service‑oriented associates; participates in interviewing, selection, coordinating training, preparing/approving performance appraisals, recommending merit/promotional increases, preparing weekly work schedules, and coaching associates to promote positive customer relations and a productive team‑oriented work environment.
  • Oversees firearms compliance coaching and assists with investigations when necessary.
  • Resolves customer and associate issues.
  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the company’s policies and applicable laws, including interviewing, hiring & training, planning, assigning and directing work; measuring and evaluating performance; rewarding and disciplining associates; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
  • Provides a legendary experience for every customer by assisting in buying decisions, identifying and evaluating customer needs, making product recommendations, and promoting programs such as CLUB Membership, customer feedback surveys, and In‑Store Pick‑up.

    Experience:

    Minimum of 3‑5 years in Retail Management that includes firearms safe handling practices, skilled identification of firearms and ammunition, and their classification and mechanical operation.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITY
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, commissions, and percentages.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of financial, legal, and technical information.
  • Ability to read and analyze certain reports.
  • Ability to write reports and business correspondence.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, associates, customers, and the public.
  • Ability to conduct meetings and presentations to groups.
  • Proficiency with PC‑based word processing, spreadsheets, data‑based management and electronic point‑of‑sale and inventory management systems.
  • Demonstrated strong interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co‑workers, associates, customers and corporate staff.
  • Demonstrated use of Team concept of Management.
