Technical Director

I am currently seeking an individual to fulfil the role of a Technical Director, for an industry leading Health and Wellness company, USA.

In this role you will be the go to person if the team require technical advice. This is an on site role, this company have a relocation package if needed.

• Experience with sun care, skincare and technologies.
• 8+ years of R&D leadership within the Personal Care, Beauty, or OTC product industries.
• Holds a Master’s or Ph.D. in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Toxicology, or a related scientific discipline.
• Extensive knowledge of the Personal Care landscape, including knowledge of regulations.
• Good relationship with suppliers, have strong industry network.
• Ability to manage a team, experience having direct reports.
• Willingness and ability to relocate to Idaho Falls,  work onsite 5 days a week.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the USA.

• Lead all phases of research and product development for new and existing Personal Care products, from ideation and formulation to claims validation and launch readiness.
• Oversee scientific research, clinical testing, performance tests, and claims substantiation to ensure products are safe, effective, stable, and compliant with global regulations.
• Conduct technology surveys of competitive products to determine market and technology trends.
• Evaluate competitive products through physical, chemical, and aesthetic testing.
• Assess and address potential regulatory, patent, and safety issues relating to existing and new formulas.
• Ensure appropriate laboratory practices, compliance with good laboratory standards, and maintain a safe, orderly workplace with accurate, up-to-date records.
• Manage and mentor a multidisciplinary R&D team of scientists, chemists, and technicians, fostering a collaborative culture of innovation, accountability, and excellence.
• Identify, integrate, and champion new green chemistry technologies, sustainable ingredients, and formulation breakthroughs to reinforce leadership in naturally derived personal care.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with Product Development, Process Development, Regulatory, Quality, Legal, Marketing, International, and Operations teams to bring innovation to market.
• Drive R&D strategies and programs that meet performance, cost, timing, and claims goals, ensuring alignment with company mission and customer expectations.
• Serve as a spokesperson for product science, representing the company in scientific forums, supplier collaborations, and industry partnerships.
• Maintain technical proficiency by studying new science, technical advancements, competitive products, new raw materials, and global regulations impacting the industry.
• Plan, support, and provide sound technical judgment in all aspects of product development.
