Middle School Science Teacher – Responsibilities
  • Teach five classes per academic year.
  • Serve as student advisor and participate in extracurricular activities.
  • Develop lesson plans and supplementary materials compatible with the school’s instructional philosophy.
  • Collaborate with science colleagues to advance department goals and initiatives.
  • Participate and collaborate with teachers and subject‑area experts on grade‑level and interdisciplinary teams.
  • Use technology to enhance students’ active, experiential, and hands‑on learning.
  • Create learning environments that encourage risk‑taking and deep learning for students with a range of learning abilities using a variety of methods and technology.
  • Utilize laboratory notebooks, lab practica, and authentic assessments to assess students’ content and laboratory skills.
  • Apply reflection and feedback aimed at continued growth in teaching and working with students.
  • Collaborate with grade‑level colleagues to develop project‑based learning opportunities.
  • Remain current in pedagogical practices and field‑related trends.
  • Attend Middle School divisional, social studies department, grade‑level, and interdisciplinary team meetings.
  • Communicate with parents, school counselors, and administrators on students’ progress.
  • Design and implement assessments that measure progress toward academic standards and provide timely feedback.
  • Use the student learning management system to provide timely feedback, grades, and assignments.
Other Duties
  • Other tasks as assigned by the Head of Middle School.
  • Continuing professional development endeavors.

Education and Experience

Required
:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Science, Education, or related field.
  • Minimum of two years prior teaching experience.

Preferred
:

  • Master’s Degree in Science, Education, or related field.
  • Proficiency with Windows or Apple OS, Microsoft Office, cloud computing, and media software.
Compensation and Benefits

Anticipated salary range: $65,000 to $100,000.
